| Description |
Fingerlin illustrates a small jar (height only 13 cm)
with a simple
moulded rim from Dangstetten Fundstelle 116
which would bear examination as
an example of our type.
The ware is described as `blass-rot,
hart gebrannt,
grobsandig,
leichte Glimmermagerung'.
Taf.27 clearly shows the unevenly
finished surface of the vessel.
The series of light horizontal
grooves around the lower part of the body
are an unusual feature,
although they can be compared with those on
Oberaden
type 101.
The rim seems to have only a single internal moulding.
Without direct examination
it is not possible
to be more confident about the classificaton
of this vessel.
Dangstetten was probably founded in
c.
15 BC and abandoned shortly after the death of Drusus,
in 9 BC.

This jar may be as early as
the example at Oberaden,
and perhaps even pre-dates it by a few years.
